St. Croix's history reads as the straight definition of hard work and determination. In 1948, co-founders Bob and Bill Johnson, both avid fishermen, decided to construct and sell landing nets. The first DOMSSON plug was born in a garage in 1987, with our intent then, as it is now; to build a bass plug that is reliable and durable that fishermen can count on... we build "go to" plugs. All plugs are cedar, 100% sealed, made with stainless steel lips and through wire, VMC hooks, beautifully painted and tuned to flutter slowly on top and dive when fast retrieved. All DOMSSON lures track true and will not roll, which is why DOMSSON dependability allows DOMSSON lures to "swim better than a fish."

The fish art and natural science fish illustrations by Escape Studio artist Nick Mayer – naturalist, biologist, fly-fisherman, fish artist–go beyond typical paintings of natural science study to the art of capturing a specific fish. They are portraits of fish–particular fish. The art begins with the accurate scale placement and fin ray counts expected in a scientific illustration, incorporates the colors carefully blended to be lifelike by a naturalist painter, and then becomes a portrait by an artist with the trace of a small scar, a slight drop in the tail, or a split in a fin.
